Assistant/Associate Professor Library Science Department/CollegeSchool of Media, Creative Arts and Social Inquiry DatesOpening Date: 10/03/2022 Job DescriptionThe Department of Interdisciplinary Professions in the College of Education at East Carolina University is seeking one full-time, tenure-track, nine-month faculty member in Library Science. The position is at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor and begins August 2023. Job DutiesThe candidate for the Assistant/Associate Professor position will teach graduate courses in a fully online format and will serve in additional, value-added capacities to the department through recruitment and retention initiatives, curriculum development and improvement, and accreditation/assessment efforts. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsA doctoral degree in library, information sciences, or a related field is required.
Candidates must have the ability to teach two or more of the core courses (foundations, reference, technology, administration & management, research literacy, organization of information, collection development).Candidates must be able to demonstrate how they will support students in the public librarianship concentration through their research or teaching; as well as a documented record or ability to build a record of research and scholarship, and experience or demonstrated ability in design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats. Candidates with Ph.D. or Ed.D. conferred at the time of initial appointment will hold the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor upon initial appointment. ABD candidates will be initially appointed with the probationary term rank of Assistant Professor and must have the terminal degree conferred prior to your first reappointment. Qualifying degrees must be conferred and received from appropriately accredited institutions. In addition to the required qualifications, the following experiences, skills, and training/education are preferred:
