Job Description

The Department of Educational Technology and Library Science in the College of Education at the University of Central Missouri is seeking one full-time, tenure-track, nine-month faculty member in the Master of Library Science (MLS) program at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin August 2025. The MLS program at the University of Central Missouri is a growing program that has recently been granted candidacy status by the American Library Association’s Committee on Accreditation. The MLS program has an established school library specialization, and has developed two additional areas of specializations within the master’s degree to include: academic librarianship, public librarianship, and school librarianship.

 

Job Duties

The Assistant/Associate Professor will be responsible for teaching graduate courses (primarily online) and contributing to the department in various ways, including recruitment, assessment, curriculum enhancement, and accreditation. They will also engage in research, teaching, and mentoring students in the Master of Library Science (MLS) program. Additionally, active participation in program, departmental, college, university, and professional service is required. While most instruction occurs online, on-campus responsibilities in Warrensburg, MO, such as meetings, events, and graduation ceremonies, are expected.

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

  • Doctorate degree in Library and Information Science Earned doctorate in a closely related field or ABD considered
  • Demonstrated ability to teach core courses and courses within the academic and/or public librarianship areas of specialization
  • A record of research and scholarship (or ability to develop in this area)
  • A record of professional and/or institutional service
