The GSLIS is the only publicly supported American Library Association accredited school of library and information studies in the metropolitan New York City area. The GSLIS has a large and highly diverse student body. The appointee will share responsibility for teaching Master level courses, participating in and contributing to committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Job DutiesPrimary instructional responsibilities will include one or more of the core courses and courses within the children and young adult specialization. They share responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. Performs teaching, research and guidance duties in area(s) of expertise at the graduate and undergraduate level. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsCandidates must possess a Ph.D. in library/information science, childhood studies, media studies, or a related field at the time of hire. The successful candidate will have experience teaching in higher education, a record for research and service, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution. We seek the ability to employ perspectives from critical race studies, indigenous methods, environmental justice, and queer studies. Qualified candidates will have research and teaching expertise as well as practical experience in one or more of the following areas:
