Job Description
The École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information (EBSI) of the Université de Montréal invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Document Informatics, more specifically in information visualization
Job Duties
The appointed candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, be active in research, publishing, diffusion of knowledge, and contribute to the activities of the University.
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
- Ph. D. in Information Science or in a relevant discipline;
- Excellent publication record in document informatics (rooted in information science), specializing in information visualization;
- Demonstrated ability to provide high quality university education in document informatics, particularly in information visualization;
- Ability to develop a dynamic and original high-level research program in document informatics (rooted in information science), specializing in information visualization;
- Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following aspects is an asset:
- Visualization of research data;
- Visualization of quantitative and qualitative data;
- Visual Data Storytelling;
- Ontology-based Information Visualization;
- Visual literacy;
- Visualization interfaces.
- Professional experience and established relations with local, national, and international professional associations in information science will be considered as an asset.
Supplementation Information
An adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills..
