Job Description

The École de bibliothéconomie et des sciences de l’information (EBSI) of the Université de Montréal invites applications for the full-time, tenure-track position of Assistant Professor in Computing for Information Science, with a specialization in knowledge modelling and representation, information security or health informatics. 

Job Duties

The appointed candidate will be expected to teach at all three levels of the curriculum, supervise graduate students, be active in research, publishing, and knowledge dissemination, and contribute to the academic and administrative life of the University.

 

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Information Science or a relevant discipline
  • Strong research record in Computing for Information Science (rooted in Information Science)
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality university education in Computing for Information Science
  • Ability to develop a dynamic and original high-level research program in Computing for Information Science (rooted in Information Science)
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following
    • Knowledge modelling and representation – ontologies, information systems, information or data visualisation, data storytelling
    • Information security – protection of personal data, information privacy, digital privacy, cybersecurity, authentication
    • Health informatics
  • Professional experience and established relations with local, national, and international professional associations in information science are an asset
  • Adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their skills.
