Job Description

The School of Information Studies (SOIS), the iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in Data Librarianship.

Job Duties

The selected applicant will be expected to maintain an active research agenda related to the organization, extraction, processing, and management of data in libraries and other information services.

Possible research and teaching areas might include but are not limited to: knowledge organization, data curation, academic librarianship, information retrieval, knowledge management, project management, information technology.


Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Library and Information Science or a related field at the time of the appointment.
  • Evidence of potential for teaching in the SOIS undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Excellent research promise in a relevant area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MLIS with librarianship experience
  • Ability to teach one or more of the core courses in the MLIS program
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in the design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats, including onsite and online
  • Excellent research record in a relevant area
  • Evidence of a collaborative focus in research
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion
