Assistant Professor Department/CollegeSchool of Information Science DatesOpening Date: 10/19/2020 Job DescriptionThe School of Information Science (SIS) in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky (UK) invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level with an anticipated start date of Aug. 16, 2021. Job DutiesTeaching responsibilities for this nine-month appointment include topics primarily in information retrieval and/or information technologies. Faculty are expected to teach, advise students, maintain a personal research program, participate in professional activities, and serve on university committees. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College’s interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsCandidates are expected to hold an earned Ph.D. or be in ABD status in library science, information science, or a related field at the time of the interview. The Ph.D. is required by Aug. 16, 2021, for the successful candidate to hold the rank of assistant professor and begin the probationary period toward tenure.
Supplementation InformationThe College of Communication and Information, a member of the iSchools consortium, is composed of two schools (The School of Journalism and Media, School of Information Science), two departments (Department of Communication, Department of Integrated Strategic Communication) and an interdisciplinary graduate program.
