Job Description

Assistant Professor (tenure-track) in Archival Science.

Job Duties

The appointed candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses, supervise graduate students, be active in research, publishing, and the diffusion of knowledge, and contribute to the activities of the University. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to be actively involved in projects involving Aboriginal archives.


  • Ph. D. in Information Science or in a relevant discipline;
  • Strong research record;
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality university teaching;
  • Ability to develop a dynamic and original high-level research program;
  • Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following aspects:--Community archives (e.g., artistic, Aboriginal, immigrant, LGBTQ+, minority, religious, sports, etc.)--Dissemination and usage of archives.

Supplemental Information

  • Professional experience and established relations with local, national, and international professional associations in information science will be considered as an asset;
  • an adequate knowledge of the French written and spoken language or a strong commitment to mastering the proficiency level required, in accordance to Université de Montréal’s Language Policy. An institutional learning support program is offered to all professors wishing to learn French or improve their communication skills.
