Endowed Professorship in Librarianship Department/CollegeSchool of Information DatesOpening Date: 10/13/2020 Job DescriptionThe School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for the Virginia and Charles Bowden Endowed Professorship in Librarianship to start in Fall 2021. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The Bowden professor will also receive a salary supplement of $10,000 annually above the holder’s base salary. In addition, they will have access to a fund (which generates approximately $10,000 annually) for research, travel, student support, or other allowable expenses. We welcome applicants representing a broad range of interests and strengths and are interested in candidates with expertise in library and information studies. Job DutiesSuccessful candidates will either currently be tenured full professors or eligible for appointment at the level of tenured full professor. The candidate should be highly research-active and a thought leader in their specialty. We are seeking colleagues who will contribute to research and to teaching in all academic degree programs the UT iSchool offers including the ALA Accredited Master of Science in Information Studies, an Undergraduate Minor in Informatics, and a Ph.D. in Information Studies. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsCandidates must hold a doctoral degree in a field that is relevant to their area of research and teaching. Candidates should have an established record of accomplishment of research, publication, teaching, and leadership in the area of library and information studies. We seek candidates with excellent research, teaching, service and leadership abilities and a commitment to shaping the future of the UT Austin iSchool and the field of information more broadly.
