The University of South Florida (USF) School of Information seeks exceptional candidates for a faculty position at the assistant professor rank with expertise in one or more of the following areas: information literacy, children’s and youth services, school media/school libraries. Candidates are expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and excellence in teaching, and show the potential for scholarly productivity, plans for interdisciplinary research and collaboration, and the potential for securing external funding. Responsibilities will also include student advising and mentoring, committee service at department, college, and university levels, as well as active involvement in professional organizations. Candidates must have the ability to develop, teach, and integrate emerging distance learning technologies for online teaching. Salary is nationally competitive and commensurate with rank of assistant professor. This is a nine-month, tenure earning position, with the possibility of research and teaching opportunities in the summer months.

The USF School of Information (SI) is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, which consists of 23 academic departments and a number of centers and institutes that are highly collaborative and interdisciplinary in nature. SI enjoys a strong tradition of educating information professionals in a variety of settings. Three degree programs are currently offered in the School: a M.A. in Library and Information Science, which has been continually accredited by the American Library Association since 1974; a new STEM-based MS in Intelligence Studies, which offers concentrations in Cyber Intelligence and Strategic Intelligence; and a B.S. in Information Studies that integrates a strong foundation in information science with information technology to emphasize how people interact with information and technology.

The following are the required and preferred qualifications of potential candidates:
Minimum Qualifications:

• PhD in Library and Information Science, Information Science/ Studies, or a closely-related discipline from an accredited institution. ABDs will be considered if degree will be completed before the start date.
• MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or an internationally equivalent institution.
• Demonstrated potential of achievement in teaching, academic research and service in the LIS areas.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Proven visibility and leadership in professional organizations and community engagement.
• Evidence of having developed, taught, and/or integrated emerging distance learning technologies into online courses.
