Lecturer, Informatics

Dominican University invites applications for the position of Lecturer in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science. This renewable position is a full-time, 10-month appointment to begin August 2016 with the possibility of converting to tenure track in the future. The successful candidate will contribute to the Informatics program which is set to commence in the fall semester 2016, so this is an opportunity for the person appointed to contribute meaningfully to the development and implementation of a new program.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Teach online, blended, and face-to-face courses and develop curriculum for new undergraduate major in informatics and graduate-level courses within GSLIS as assigned (3 x 3 course load)
  • Serve as student advisor
  • Serve on departmental and university-wide committees
  • Assist with implementation and systematic evaluation planning
  • Participate in recruitment, retention, and successful progression of students within program

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will hold a Ph.D. in library and information science or cognate area, with documented expertise in one or more of the following:

  • Informatics (community, educational, nursing, organizational, social)
  • Cybersecurity and/or information policy
  • Data science, data management, data visualization
  • Design thinking, human-computer interaction, web design, app development
  • Project management

Candidates must also demonstrate a commitment to diversity and inclusion as evidenced by their research, teaching, and/or service.
