Candidate for PresidentStephen Bajjaly Candidate's Statement: I am willing to serve ALISE because I have a loyalty to the organization, I believe strongly in its purpose, and I am passionate about two of its core functions: faculty recruitment and faculty development. As an ALISE member since 1994, I have twice served as chair of the Council of Deans, Directors, and Program Chairs; organizer of the “Birds of a Feather” sessions at conference; chair of the memberships and the nominations committees; member of the centennial campaign, awards, and communications committees; liaison to the ALA Committee on Education; and as a member of the 2006 Task Force on Best Practices in LIS Education. Biography Before joining Wayne State, Bajjaly spent 14 years on the faculty of the University of South Carolina School of Library and Information Science where he taught information technology, web design and organizational management courses and led the development of the undergraduate program. He was the founding project director for MidNet, the local, nonprofit community network sponsored by the School, and served as chair of the University's Graduate Council, president of the South Carolina chapter of SLA, and on the board of the SC Association for Educational Technology. |
