ALISE Leadership Development InternshipThe ALISE Leadership Development Internship Program is designed to identify individuals with the significant potential to provide future leadership for ALISE and in the broader field of library and information science. Program DescriptionThe ALISE Leadership Development Internship Program is open to current graduate students, postdocs, and early career professionals up to third year post-degree. The application process places a heavy emphasis on past and current leadership experiences with a specific focus on personal goals for growth within ALISE and the professional field. At the annual conference, all interns are expected to participate fully in a coordinated program of activities, including leadership development sessions, exclusive events with leaders from the association and the field, and selected association governance events. In addition, interns will perform hands-on tasks, assisting association leadership during the first timer’s session, general sessions, and the membership meeting that provide a behind-the-scenes view of conference operations. In preparation for the conference experience, each intern will participate in the ALISE Emerging Scholars Program the year leading up to and including the 2025 conference. All interns receive complimentary conference registration, hotel lodging, and a cash award of $1,500. In addition to participating in the ALISE Emerging Scholars Program, the selected intern class will work together on a group project to be presented at the ALISE 2025 Conference. The intern class project should be designed upon the premise of addressing an organizational need within the association. Interns will be expected to arrive at the 2025 conference, which will be held in Kansas City, MO by Monday afternoon, October 6, 2025 and to stay until Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Submission ProcessAll submissions must be completed through the ALISE 2025 submission system. First-time users will be required to create an account (separate from your www.alise.org account). Once created, return to the ALISE '25 submission page to log in. Once logged in, select 'Enter as an author'. Select the relevant track for your submission, ensuring you review all requirements prior to completing your submission. Intern MentoringAfter evaluating each intern’s personal experience and professional development goals, the ALISE Executive Board has matched the intern with a current ALISE leader. This leader will serve as a mentor, identifying organizational and professional activities in which to involve the intern over the course of the next year. Activities include, but are not limited to, division, affiliate, committee, and/or executive meetings, annual convention planning, and scholarly endeavors. Each experience will vary by the mentor.
