Jennifer Campbell-MeierDr. Jennifer Campbell-Meier
Senior Lecturer
Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand

Candidate's Statement:
Kia ora koutou! One thing 2020 has taught us about is the importance of community. Whether we meet online or face-to-face, ALISE provides us with opportunities to share, learn and grow professionally. Being a part of the organization as Director, Community Building is an opportunity to engage and share within the wider community.

I first joined as a doctoral student, I came thinking I was alone and left with a supportive group of colleagues. The ties I have made at ALISE have led to employment opportunities, research projects, and teaching support. Since moving to Aotearoa New Zealand, I am not always able to participant in person, but I do find the resources and expertise I have access to helpful for my students and for myself. I consider myself lucky to be part of two communities: 1) ALISE and 2) Australasian information studies educator colleagues. While both groups share some members, there are opportunities for collaboration and support that would allow ALISE to meet the needs of the global community. Not everyone is able to take advantage of the ALISE conference experience, but we can build online options to include more of our colleagues. I would like to assist ALISE members by providing opportunities to further provide develop an inclusive organization for information science educators.
