Job Description

USF School of Information is hiring for an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor as part of the William W. & Judith A. Gaunt Endowed Professorship in Library and Information Science. Review of applications will begin immediately with a a priority deadline of Feb 1, 2024. All qualified candidates are invited to apply, but we are particularly interested in a candidate who has a well-developed research agenda that emphasizes community-engaged library and information science research (broadly interpreted).

Job Duties

This position, housed out of USF’s Sarasota-Manatee campus, expands the School of Information across One USF and opens up exciting research opportunities in the Sarasota-Manatee geographic region. The position, funded partially from an endowment left by William W. & Judith A. Gaunt, will begin August 2024 at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor. The successful candidate will join our faculty in a collegial environment that promotes collaboration amongst faculty within the School and across the university community.

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

Required:
  • Holds a doctoral degree in a field that is relevant to the candidate’s area of research and teaching
  • Evidence of productive scholarship in the candidate’s area of specialization, including presentations, publications, and similar forms of scholarly engagement, as well as the demonstrated ability to conduct independent and collaborative research
Preferred:
  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or an internationally equivalent institution
  • Evidence of having developed, taught, and/or integrated emerging distance learning technology into online courses
  • Research interests that connect to program objectives and extend current faculty interests and capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to secure external funding
  • Articulation of how research might use the rich resources of the Sarasota-Manatee region (the “cultural coast” of Florida)
