Job Description
The Department of Information Science (DIS) in the College of Information of the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for Assistant/Associate Professor (tenure track) position with a research and teaching focus in Information and Library Science.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, Health Informatics, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Justice, and Business Analytics. Positions will begin in Fall semester 2022.
We seek candidates who will provide inspiration and leadership in research and teaching, who can leverage the strengths of the department’s dynamic faculty and programs, and who will build collaborative relationships in the University and profession.
This is a nine month, full-time, tenure-track position.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to show evidence of or develop a record of scholarly research necessary to earn tenure.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to design and deliver courses in a variety of formats, including online and hybrid modalities, and is expected to teach core courses and specialized courses.
The candidate is also expected to coordinate students’ practicum experiences, work closely with doctoral students and serve on dissertation committees, and develop close relationships with practitioners and educators in related fields.
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills
Candidates must have an earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree from an ALA accredited program in Information and Library Science or related field; and demonstrate evidence of effective teaching, research, and scholarship with experience/expertise in broad areas of Information and Library Science.
Applicants seeking appointment with tenure at the associate professor rank must meet UNT’s criteria for tenure at the associate professor level.
The Department seeks candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Health Informatics, Information Systems, Human-Computer Interaction, Social Justice, and Business Analytics.
Preference will be given to candidates with a strong record of, or demonstrated potential for, success in obtaining extramurally funded research; a demonstrated commitment to diversity as evidenced by their teaching, research, and service to the profession; and experience mentoring and advising graduate students at the Ph.D. level.
