Assistant Professor (tenure track) Department/CollegeSchool of Information Science DatesOpening Date: 08/29/2024 Job DescriptionThe School of Information Science in the College of Communication and Information at the University of Kentucky invites applications for an assistant professor position. This is a regular title series position with a nine-month appointment. The anticipated start date is August 16, 2025. Job DutiesThe School seeks candidates for teaching and research responsibilities in areas including, but not limited to, digital curation, archives, health information, health technologies, information systems, artificial intelligence, data science, and knowledge organization. Candidates will be expected to teach a 2-2 teaching load at the graduate or undergraduate level with opportunities to teach across the School’s programs. This position will have an expected distribution of effort of 50% research, 45% teaching, and 5% service. Faculty are expected to teach, advise students, maintain a personal research program, participate in professional activities, and serve on university committees. Opportunities exist to work with doctoral students in the College’s interdisciplinary Ph.D. program. Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsCandidates are expected to hold an earned Ph.D. or be in ABD status in library and information sciences, computer science, or a related field at the time of the interview. The Ph.D. is required by August 2025 for the successful candidate to hold the rank of assistant professor and begin the probationary period toward tenure.
