Clinical Assistant Professor, Information Sciences (Two Positions, Non-Tenure-Track) Department/CollegeSchool of Information Sciences, College of Communication and Information DatesOpening Date: 06/26/2023 Job DescriptionThe School of Information Sciences in the College of Communication and Information (CCI) at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK), seeks two full-time Clinical Assistant Professors for non-tenure-track positions to start in January or August 2024. The initial appointment for these 9-month positions will be up to a maximum of three years, with the possibility of renewal. SIS enrolls approximately 300 students in its Master of Science in Information Sciences (MSIS) distance education and on-campus programs, ranked 10th in the most recent U.S. News and World Report on American Library Association-accredited LIS graduate programs. SIS also offers the state’s first Bachelor of Science in Information Sciences degree, an undergraduate online degree completion program in applied data analytics and user experience, and undergraduate minors in information sciences, user experience design, and social media analytics. SIS is also an active participant in the CCI Ph.D. program. Job Duties The successful candidates will mainly teach and advise students in our ALA-accredited master’s degree program and undergraduate programs in Information Sciences. School, college, university, and professional service are also expected. Teaching modes include face-to-face, synchronous online, asynchronous online, and hybrid.
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsWe are particularly interested in applicants with teaching interests in areas that extend the school’s areas of expertise and make theoretical/practical contributions to the library and information science field to strengthen its identity. Experience in and connections to industry, various information sciences-related careers, or other professional settings is also a plus.
