Job Description

The Faculty Associate will teach courses in the Information School (iSchool) during the academic year and summer session and provide academic advising to master's students enrolled in iSchool programs. This position will also include some administrative responsibilities. Responsibilities assigned will vary based on experiences of the person hired. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, iSchool committee/task force participation, iSchool communications, and administering practicum, recruitment, admissions, and orientations.

Job Duties

  • INSTRUCTION (65%)Teach four to five one to three credit courses per year (face-to-face and online formats). Specific courses to be determined; typical schedule will be two courses per academic semester and one in the summer. Mentor, supervise and be the departmental instructor of record for project-based independent study work in relevant areas.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE AND PROGRAMMATIC RESPONSIBILITIES (20%)Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, administering practicum; recruitment; admissions, and orientations; iSchool communications.
  • STUDENT ACADEMIC ADVISING AND iSCHOOL COMMITTEE WORK (10%)Advise graduate students in the iSchool. Participate in iSchool committees/task forces.
  • PROFESSIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS AND DEVELOPMENT (5%)

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

Masters degree in library and information studies or related field required.

3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience required.
