Lectures are often presented in a negative light. They are used as an example of passive learning and teacher-centered (as opposed to student-centered) classrooms. However, lectures offer some important advantages. They can be a time-efficient way to provide an overview of a topic or structure complex material. Done well, they can be engaging and even inspiring. In this chat, we’ll discuss how we can use lectures effectively in our teaching.
