Lauren Mandel is an associate professor and director of the Graduate School of Library and Information Studies at the University of Rhode Island. She has a PhD in library and information studies from Florida State University and a Master of Science in library and information studies from Simmons College. Her research focuses on library wayfinding, applications and uses of GIS in LIS research, and teamwork pedagogy in LIS. She teaches in the area of management and leadership, information technology in libraries, and history of books.

The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) announced the new appointment of Dr. Lauren Mandel as the Editor of the Journal of Education for Library and Information Sciences (JELIS) at the 2024 Annual Business Meeting.
