Job Description

The Department of STEM and Professional Studies seeks applicants for a 12-month lecturer faculty position as a Lecturer of Library and Information Studies to start June 10, 2021.

Job Duties

The primary responsibilities for this position are:

  • To develop and teach undergraduate distance learning courses in library and information studies including the management of multiple sections of an information literacy course.
  • To participate in the administration, recruitment, and advising initiatives of the Master of Library and Information Studies program with the responsibility to advise graduate students in the MLIS program.
  • To develop and maintain relationships with employers in libraries, archives, and other related institutions to assist with recruitment, program growth, and placements.
  • To participate in the professional and intellectual community through service in the program, department, and college.

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

Minimum Qualifications - Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: The candidate should demonstrate evidence of:

  • teaching ability and fluency in information literacies and technology;
  • breadth of knowledge of the library profession and the preparation of information professionals;
  • excellence in written and oral communication, and;
  • ability to maintain organized records and student files.

Minimum Qualifications - Education or Training: The minimum requirement for this position is a Master of
Library Science or equivalent degree from a program accredited by the American Library Association.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in academic, public, or special libraries or other information centers.
