Non-tenure Track (Open Rank) Specialized Faculty Department/CollegeSchool of Information Sciences DatesOpening Date: 10/14/2021 Job DescriptionThe School of Information Sciences seeks to hire outstanding full-time, specialized faculty members at the rank of Instructor, Lecturer/Senior Lecturer, or Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor to join our dynamic and collegial school. Preference will be given to the specializations of discrete mathematics, programming, databases and other technical pedagogies, responsible AI, and data analytics and metadata, but strong candidates in any area will be considered. Job DutiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/SkillsRequirements include a minimum of three years of teaching in both traditional and non-traditional environments (e.g., online and hybrid), experience utilizing a variety of teaching tools and technologies, strong technical and teaching knowledge, and excellence in classroom teaching with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. For a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position, an M.S. in Information Science, Education, or a closely related field is required. For a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor position, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Information Science, Education, or a closely related field is required. Teaching Assistant/Associate Professors generally teach two courses per semester (fall and spring) and Lecturers/Senior Lecturers generally teach three courses per semester (fall and spring). These specialized faculty positions are full-time, 100% (12-month basis) appointments with regular University benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. The starting date is January 2022. Specialized faculty are eligible for promotion from Lecturer to Senior Lecturer, or from Teaching Assistant Professor to Teaching Associate Professor to (full) Teaching Professor; however, specialized faculty cannot transition to a tenure-track faculty position.
