Job Description

The School of Information Studies (SOIS), the iSchool at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM), invites applications for a one-year, non-tenure-track Visiting Assistant Professor position in knowledge organization.

Job Duties

The selected applicant will be expected to teach and conduct some research in the field of knowledge organization.

Possible teaching areas include but are not limited to metadata/cataloging, information architecture, linked data, Semantic Web, social tagging, text mining, digital humanities.


Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in Library and Information Science or a related field at the time of the appointment
  • Evidence of potential for teaching in the SOIS undergraduate and graduate programs
  • Research promise in a relevant area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to teach one or more of the core courses at undergraduate and graduate levels
  • Experience or demonstrated ability in the design and delivery of courses in a variety of formats, including onsite and online
  • Excellent research record in a relevant area
  • Evidence of a collaborative focus in research
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
