2018 Conference Wrap-Up
The 2018 Annual Conference was a huge success thanks to the tireless efforts of the conference organizers! Following an open search process, we are very pleased to announce that Dietmar Wolfram, ALISE past-president, has been selected as the ALISE Book Series editor. ALISE has signed an agreement with the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing group to co-publish the series, which is intended to be a professionally relevant, scholarly series of publications on the historic, contemporary, and future roles, values, and practices of LIS education and research. It focuses on pedagogical experimentation and innovations, research discovery and frontiers, theoretical advancement, and other related topics of interest to the ALISE community. The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) is proud to announce that it has partnered with the internationally recognized University of Toronto Press to publish ALISE's flagship publication, the Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (JELIS), beginning with Volume 59 in 2018. Members should receive login information directly from the publisher. ALISE is also pleased to announce that JELIS will now be indexed by Scopus, the world’s largest abstract and citation database of peer-reviewed literature.
Since 1960, JELIS has promoted scholarly inquiry in library and information science (LIS) education. The journal serves as the premier venue for the publication of research articles, reviews, and brief communications on issues relevant to LIS educators. JELIS Editor Peta Wellstead welcomes submissions from the global LIS research community that focus on curriculum and pedagogy in LIS education. Submission guidelines for authors may be found on the ALISE website.
The Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE) is seeking applications from individuals to assume the position of Editor-Designate of its official quarterly, refereed journal, Journal of Education for Library and Information Science (JELIS). The Editor will build on the success of the present editors and will lead in the advancement of knowledge by working with the Editorial Board and University of Toronto Press. The incoming Editor will have the unique opportunity to shape the literature of library and information science education. The new Editor will assume responsibilities with Issue #1, 2019. The initial term of service is three years, with the possibility of renewal. The deadline for application is January 19, 2018. ALISE is open to applications from two individuals who would like to work as co-editors.
